Search scanned documents privately on your Mac

A filename is not always enough to find a document. PaperSafeAI reads supported documents and builds a local index so you can look for the person, provider, or details you remember.

How it works

  1. Read the document first

Import a supported document and wait for reading and indexing to finish. A document waiting for processing may not have all its contents available to search.

  2. Try a specific query

In the fictional walkthrough vault, search for Jamie to find documents whose reviewed details contain that name. In your vault, start with a distinctive person, provider, or phrase.

  3. Check the matching document

Open the result and verify it against the original. Search quality depends on scan readability, extracted text, and index readiness; results are not a guarantee of complete recall.

Can I search when offline?

Desktop reading and local document search run on the computer once the required local models are installed. Downloads, licence checks, and optional network features have separate connectivity requirements.

Why is a document missing from results?

Check that processing completed, the scan is readable, and the local search index is healthy. Try an exact word visible in the original before broadening the query.

Does it search every file on my computer?

It searches documents imported into your PaperSafeAI vault, rather than arbitrary files elsewhere on the computer.
